LocFinder

Main Screen

After having started the application you will see the main screen with all the important information.

Learn more about the different elements of the screen by moving the mouse pointer over the image below (or touching the screen if you are using an iPhone)!

This field shows you the name of the location you are interested in. When you tap here you activate the latitude, longitude, and distance of that location.

This field shows you the number of GPS/GSM/WLAN updates that are coming in. When you are using an iPhone 3G there have to be about 10 updates until the accuracy is satisfactory.

This field gives you the latitude of either the location you are interested in or your own location.

This field gives you the longitude of either the location you are interested in or your own location.

This field gives you the orientation of the iPhone in degrees.

Tapping here will bring you to the famous locations list. This is a preset list that contains every country in the world with it´s capital and many sights all over the world. If you feel an important sight is missing, just mail us so we can decide if it needs to be added!

Tapping here will bring you to the personal locations list. In this list you can save your own points of interest by hand, by using your current location, or by setting a location on the map.
With LocFinderLite you can only make one entry into that list!

This field gives you either the distance to the location you are interested in
or
the height of your current location.

The 3D arrow points to the location you are interested in. Underneath the pointer is a compass, which also rotates according to the device orientation.
With an iPhone 3GS tapping on the arrow will open an augmented reality view of the compass!

Tapping here will open a browser view with this internet page.

This field always shows the direction to the location you are interested in in degrees.

This field shows the speed you are moving with. You have to move at approximately 10 km/h (6 mph) to get a value. The speed ranges up to 1000 km/h (620 mph). It works best while travelling in a car. Left of the globe a beam will appear according to your speed.

Tapping here will activate the latitude, longitude, and altitude of your current location.

Tapping here will change the units from metric to imperial respectively vice versa.

Tap here to mail your current position to a friend. (You can also mail your position to us if you want us to add it to the famous locations list.)
This feature is not supported in LocFinder lite!

Tapping here will open a map showing your current location respectively the location you are interested in (you can switch between those two).

Here you can see a 3D-globe with marks for the location you are interested in (target image) and your own location (red cone). You can turn the globe using your finger. Tapping twice will restore the natural spin of the globe.

Here a beam will appear according to the speed you are moving with (the top will be reached when you are travelling by airplane).

As you know, pushing this button will end the application.
